MightyFly is looking for a master composites fabrication technician to join our small but highly capable and agile team. The position is a lead role in not only day to day shop floor manufacturing activities, but will also shape the long term build out of manufacturing facilities and capabilities to align with strategic company needs.  The short term will entail production of the majority of components for experimental aircraft such as fuselages, wings, tails, landing gear, etc..  Additional tasks may also include assembly and integration of aircraft sub-systems such as electric motors and controllers, reciprocating engines, batteries, avionics, and sensors.  Candidates should demonstrate mastery of composites lamination, trim and fitment, precision alignment of structural elements, structural adhesive bonding, and assembly.  The strongest candidates will possess additional skills such as machine shop, welding, and aircraft maintenance.  The position includes the opportunity to develop into a shop foreman / lead role managing a continuously growing team of technicians. 


  • Lamination tool sealing, releasing, and refurbishing
  • Lamination, vacuum bagging, and trimming of carbon fiber prepreg parts
  • Loading parts into the oven and demolding them after cure
  • Adhesive bonding and preparation of parts and assemblies
  • Fill and fair finishing
  • Painting or vinyl wrapping
  • Assembly of components and subsystems
  • Shop arrangement, organization, and upkeep
  • Sourcing and ordering tools, supplies, and consumables
  • Must be able to lift 50lb
  • Help plan work and process flows
  • Estimate task durations/schedules
  • Participate in brainstorming and design reviews
  • Provide feedback to engineering

  • 10+ yrs hands on composite manufacturing in relevant field
  • Composite tooling fabrication experience
  • Composite prepreg lay-up experience using out of autoclave vacuum bag techniques
  • Experience with structural adhesive bonding
  • Experience assembling complex and/or precision equipment
  • Engineering drawing interpretation skills

  • Ability to plan and deliver on time

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with aviation certification standards & processes
  • Experience with large UAVs or VTOL aircraft
  • Machining and welding skills

  • Certified A&P
  • Familiarity with high voltage power electronics
